Content Writing – How It Becomes Easier With Time

By

Many new bloggers absolutely struggle with content writing, so much so that the struggle only lasts a few months before they pack it in and decide to find some greener pastures. But I think a lot of this frustration comes from a lack of knowledge regarding how to get started in the first place.

Blog content writing is not for the occasional writer who, without any training or guidance will simply wing it and hope that everything begins to fall together at some point. Unless you have that natural ability to write near effortlessly, you’ll need to find a mentor to show you how to simplify the process.

Remember, blogging is supposed to be fun, not some dreaded task that you frown upon each day. If this is you, an adjustment is needed right away, either with your chosen subject or your approach to writing.

What is your writing environment like?

Your personal workspace has to be conducive to the task at hand. If you are not comfortable in your home office or other designated workspace, address this immediately. It may even become necessary to change your location altogether. Maybe the atmosphere is just not right, or you are working with improper lighting, but whatever it is, figure it out quickly so you can become productive.

Once you become comfortable you’ll find that your thoughts will begin to flow as you are writing.

Most times I know what I am going to write about, but have no idea how I am going to say it. I simply slide up to the keyboard and begin banging out my thoughts, reaching a flow-state of sorts. But it wasn’t always this easy as there were times when I struggled as well.

Like most things in life, if you do them for a period of time, they become much easier.

My early days of blogging were a little difficult simply because I was over-thinking my content. I would stop and read every paragraph as I went along, then analyze it, wondering if it was just right.

Here’s a tip, your content will never be just right, particularly if you use the method I just described. Furthermore, it doesn’t need to be. Don’t be afraid to show a little human imperfection. People like to know that you’re just like them in many ways.

When it comes to writing content, you must find a groove with your thoughts and the ability to write will just flow to your fingertips. I know it may sound a little hocus-pocus, but it’s what really happens, at least for me.

There will be an opportunity for you to review what you have written before publishing so keep your thoughts flowing while you have them.

Paul of CopySnips.com commented on one of my posts recently and stated that he allows articles to “simmer for a few days in the draft queue”, returning a few days later to see if they sound as good as he thought they did at the time of writing. This is a good strategy. You may have quite a bit more substance to add when you return and you will definitely pick up on things that are not flowing as well as you would like.

They key thing though is to keep producing content, daily if possible, as this will hone your skills as a writer.

Consider this; If you were to write 25 articles per month for 4 months, the point at which many bloggers quit, you will have written 100 articles. Now don’t you think your skills would have increased over that period of time?

Additionally, you will have laid a decent foundation for your articles collection.

Writing blog content as a career is not a fast track to riches as many have found out, but it can be very rewarding to see your progress over the longer haul.

Blogging on a professional level, like most businesses, is about survival.

The bottom line is this; anything you do regularly will become easier with the passage of time. Stay the course and success will eventually be yours.
