During 2008, 2.6 million jobs were lost in America. This downward spiral may continue well into 2010. With unemployment at a 25-year high, many have decided to forego the job search and start their own business ventures.

After all, when you go to apply for a job and there is a line nearly a full block long, you know you have to do something.

Many of these new entrepreneurs will launch businesses in the very areas that sent them to the unemployment ranks in the first place. With few companies hiring and the economy slashing jobs by the hundreds of thousands each month, many will make a job for themselves.

The laid-off Administrative Assistant may well start his or her own practice and offer their services to firms like the one they just left. The automotive mechanic for the local car dealership may do the same.

For some, this downturn will turn out to be a blessing in disguise. You have no time for that pity party, so use the situation as an opportunity. You no longer have job security so why not make your own?

There are many things to consider before taking the plunge however. What type of business will you launch and what will you call it? Will you partner with someone or go it alone? What licenses and permits will you need and how much will your startup cost set you back?

The answer to these and many other very important questions can be found here. The page that follows contains links to many great resources. Use these resources to chart your future.

As America resets the employment table, may you find your niche and return to the ranks of success. Be not afraid to try something new.

The best of luck to you!
