Affiliate Marketing:The Road to Success for the Blogging Beginner

By

So, you’ve taken the plunge and began a new career as a blogger. What an exciting time in your life. Eh, what? Not yet? So you’re not down with this dynamic electronic medium just yet. Fear not, if you can fog a mirror you can begin a new career in blogging. Free step-by-step videos will have you off and running in no time.

For those of you who have a blog up and running and are now wondering how you can easily begin the process of making some money, you should strongly consider affiliate marketing. No, you will not be filthy rich this year or next following this path, but you can without a doubt earn some really decent money.

There are bloggers who do this full-time and make six-figure incomes, but they did not arrive there overnight. Like any business, it takes dedication and hard work to build your foundation into a solid and profitable business model and affiliate marketing is a great way to start monetizing your blog site. Here is an article I wrote recently on Affiliate Marketing Income.

As an affiliate, you will simply market the products of a merchant. When your site visitor clicks through and makes a purchase, you will be paid a commission for the referral, and why not. If you had not made the recommendation, the sale would not have occurred.

Ask yourself how many times you have told your friends, family and even total strangers about a product or service that you really felt good about. You were excited to tell them because you know they need this in their life and should not miss this opportunity. Now ask yourself how many times the movie theater, athletic shoe manufacturer or electronic store called you to give you a percentage of the sale you made for them. Interesting huh? This is no different; it’s just electronic and highly efficient.

So you have a website up and running and you blog about your favorite past time, biking. You did not set out to make money; it was all fun and passion. But why not add a few related products to your site that your readers can benefit from. Sure, you could just tell them about the gel-filled seat that allows you to ride for more miles than you ever thought possible. You know this is something that they absolutely need to take a look at. Well, show it to them on your site and for every one that is sold, you get paid. This is what you call win-win-win. Your reader, the seat vendor and you, everyone is happy about this transaction.

There are also other advantages to monetizing your website. Consider these completely easy, hands-off benefits;

1.   No payments to process or bookkeeping to maintain

2.   No products to develop or inventory to stock

3.   No shipping and handling to deal with

4.   No out of pocket money

5.   No returns or complaints in the pipeline

6.   No membership fees to sign-up and get started

7.   No store hours to keep, your site works 24/7

Now does it get any better than that? This almost becomes a no-brainer.

How to Get Started in Affiliate Marketing

First and foremost, do a bit of research and educate yourself about this sector of online business. This will give you a distinct advantage over many others who simply jump in and attempt to figure everything out on their own. The vast majority of what you need to know can be obtained online for free.

Go slow and avoid being overwhelmed with information. Concentrate on one source of information at a time before moving on to another. Do NOT buy any ebooks or sign-up for any paid courses just yet. You must first determine two things, your willingness to get into this market and your skill level. If you determine that this is something that you really want to do and you are feeling technically challenged, there are many legitimate sources of guidance just a click away. I will cover some of these in an upcoming article.

Once you’ve obtained the basic knowledge of how this industry functions, and you are ready to get started, take action. This is where most people fail. This is why it is important to concentrate on one source at a time to avoid “analysis paralysis”. When you overload yourself you become confused and uncertain about your next step, so you continue to analyze everything, while taking no action.

So, go ahead and do some research, make a decision and get ready to move forward with your blogging career.
