It’s Time

This blog is committed to encouraging dialogue and civilized debate between business leaders and consumers. Together, we can forge new alliances and strengthen the positions of both sides for the better. We must first however, look a bit farther than our own back yards. A high degree of respect for one another will boost the overall quality of the business experience. Too often in today’s world the consumer and the business owner, has come away with less than the desired result. It’s time that a win-win situation is consistently found.
The US and world economies are in near calamity, as you know. This should signal the need to come together and see that we all make it through this serious downturn. The ominous signs for businesses, both online and off are everywhere.
Recently, I read that the online advertisement market is expected to shrink by 5% during this first quarter. Will it turn around in the second quarter, or continue to head south? General Motors has reported a 2008 fourth quarter loss of $9.6 Billion dollars (bailout money included). AIG is looking for another bite of the bailout apple. The list of bad signs goes on and on.
We are all standing at a crossroad. The stock market continues to tank, and the handwriting is on the wall. Unless we pull together and leave behind that “me first” attitude, we are all in the soup for a longer period than we would like to admit. Will the government pull us out of this morass? Not without the assistance of business leaders and consumers alike. Everyone is affected in some manner, regardless of what your wallet tells you today. In the long run, a price will be paid by all of us.
In a major crisis, the better part of human nature always comes to the fore. The sinking of ships, the burning of houses, hurricanes and other major catastrophes has always brought out the best in humankind.
In case you missed it, it’s time to rally around one another.
